Here's what it looked like in 2007 (sorry about the cell pics). I call it Dorm Room Chic! The mini fridge was always stocked with locally bottled Poland Spring water.
Now we'll jump ahead to 2008. Here's what it looked like after I discovered the wonders of Craig's List and sold all our exercise equipment. It's so empty! You can't quite see them but I'll admit that we had shoved a lot of college text books under the futon. :)
Here's what it looks like now! The wide pumpkin pine floors are my favorite aspect of the room. They're kind of delicate though so I'm thankful this is the only room in the house that has them. The color on the walls is named Butter and I love it! We painted this room within a week of the house closing in August 2005 before we installed an A/C. Third floor + 90 degree weather = buckets of sweat. You can always count on us to think ahead like that. ;)
I'm using an old writing desk for my sewing machine. Jake's dad built the round table for Melissa and Joe 10-15 years ago and we got it when we moved into our first house in 2003. The top comes off and it barely made it past the staircase turns to get up here. It's working great as my cutting table because my entire cutting mat fits. I slap a big piece of cardboard over it so I can craft on this table too.
Our Wii is hooked up to this old tv. You can see the Wii Fit on the floor and my pink yoga mat in the basket of Wii accesories. I love that you can stream 'instant watch' Netflix using the Wii now! Have you tried it yet? I like to watch random sitcoms like Newsradio while I craft.
With the turns in the stairs we're limited in the furniture that can be brought up here. We've had this futon for years. I think duvets can make great futon mattress covers and they're more affordable too.
I love board games! We store them in this closet but my favorites are downstairs. This reminds me that I need to haul them back up here and put them away. Do you see the big pile of colorful plastic baskets next to the filing cabinets? I'm slowly gathering all my craft, sewing, and gift wrapping supplies that are stashed all over the house. Our master plan is to transform the office into my work room! I'll have a place to spread out all my stuff and leave it out as long as I want without worrying about the dogs (or Jake) touching my stuff. YAY! I'm planning to use shelving and lots of organizers so everything has it's place. Do you think I can convince Jake that a DVR and flat panel tv will be necessities up here?
I moved my art supplies to the space formerly occupied by the mini fridge. What do you think of this blue? I like the punch of color but I'm thinking about changing things up now that I'm making the third floor my personal workspace. Sorry, Jake! :)
Thanks for stopping by and come again soon! :)
